Master Grooms is a nationally recognized martial arts professional who has been teaching Shaolin Kung-Fu and Tai Chi for over 20 years. Before martial arts became his full time occupation, Grooms spent 12 years in the highly competitive, hectic, fast-fast food industry. Beginning in high school at McDonald's he quickly rose in the business where he attained the position of Director of Franchise Operations for a national restaurant chain.

While in corporate, Grooms studied Shaolin martial arts and Tai Chi. In 1986 he combined his business experience and art to open the Chinese Shaolin Center for the Martial Arts, now boasting 4 schools, plus large programs at the University of Georgia and Georgia Tech. While the national average age of martial arts students is 11, Grooms realized his programs offer numerous benefits to professional adults and built his business model on this market segment. He developed a complementary curriculum based on the “internal” Chinese martial arts such as Tai Chi, Pa Kua, meditation and Chi Kung. This program teaches students to draw upon their inner energy to achieve goals, improve efficiency at work and home, and enhance their mental and physical health.

As a personal student of the Shaolin Arts' world leader, Grand Master Sin Kwang The', Grooms is among the highest ranking people in the discipline he teaches, now holding the level of 6th Black. His technical understanding of body mechanics and how to apply them to everyday life is well recognized. He has worked with professional athletes, incorporating martial techniques to improve their performance on the playing field. Master Grooms has published several articles in national martial arts magazines, and has appeared on television, radio and CNN on various martial arts topics.
